Knox has been making protective motorcycle gear longer than many reading this have been alivecirca 1981. And since 1994 the company has been making armored riding shirts (like, whichweve sold for years) and which was designed to slip under any unarmored jacket, preferably leather, to instantly beef upthe rider's protection profile.

*Okay technically its the second such jacket. We also sold the Urbane Pro MKI, as it were, and we are happy to see it replaced by the MKII model, which nearly doubles the jackets lab-test speed rating from 25mph to 45mph; and all the more so if worn underneath a shell jacket.

While Knox has marketing videos showing this product being used as a standalone jacket on a sport bike on a closed track, were going to go on a limb and say that if youre on a GSX-R you should probably get a more comprehensive jacket.

Knox also shows this jacket being worn on a flat track bikewhich entirely more appropriate. As is riding in New York City, where the need for armor is paramount, and abrasion resistance is a very nice bonus to have. Because the speed limit might be 25mph, but we all go faster than that.

Also, because summer city heat traffic sitting on a running engine = uncomfortable sweaty mess, the Urbane Pro makes for a compelling choice as a vented jacket option that can be worn on its own all summer. But you dont need to put it away when fall comes. Layer over it with your favorite sweatshirt, and/or even rain shell over that.

*Aside from the new rubber logo patch on the MKII jacket, our only other qualm with this piece is the sizingit simply runs a whole size small. EG: If you generally take a medium,try a large.
